How the conflict is started:
--Denitra refuses to accept the engagement ring and wants Jamien to prove he's ready for long term commitment, including being able to give her the things she expects to come with marriage like safety, monogamy, and children.
--The Syndicate attempt to rebuild in Stilwater and employ the same tactics the Saints have used to eliminate other gangs from the city, including an attempt to kill Jamien and his allies.
--Jamien and Denitra get into an argument during which he admits that his proposal to Denitra was spur of the moment and illogical, but he considers her "his" with no intention of ever being without her. Denitra points out that he doesn't want to marry her, but simply conquer her, leading him to question what he really wants from her and from himself.
--Denitra's parents insist on meeting her boyfriend, so she brings Jamien over. The dinner is nothing short of a disaster as she finds herself torn between defending Jamien and siding with her father.

Mayor Fuller outlaws all gang activity, allowing Ultor's new super police force to go on a city wide manhunt, forcing the now outnumbered and outgunned Saints to flee the city with Gat but without Shaundi.
--Jamien lets Denitra stay with her parents to keep her safe, sacrificing his wants and happiness for once.
--Denitra learns that her father sold his morals in exchange for Jamien's life just to keep him away from her; he's now in Ultor's pocket.
--Dex becomes chairman of Ultor and officially drops the Saints, merging with what's left of the Syndicate (and its contacts overseas). Jamien storms through the Phillips Building, expecting to face Eric Gryphon but insteads comes face to face with Dex, the true mastermind behind it all. Before he's able to take a shot to kill him, Jamien's surrounded by Masako and Dex gets away, leaving Jamien to fight his way back out of the building.
